Yunfan presented our recent work with NEB on different base modifications in bacterial samples, including 4-methylcytosine and N6-methyladenine. Her slide deck is 171201_ncm_nebmeth.
Winston and Miten Jain presented the Nanopore Consortia work on NA12878 – this was a joint effort between 6 labs (UCSC, JHU, OICR, UBC, UNottingham, UBirmingham). From our lab, Winston, Rachael and Tim contributed. The slides and data release are here.
Winston just presented our work with Circulomics on optimizing the extraction of DNA from redwood needles at the Nanopore Community Meeting. Slide deck is timp_171204_extract.
A project to sequence the genomes of the coastal redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) and giant sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum) has official been kicked off! Our part in the project is in generation of long-read sequencing data to improve the quality of the genome assembly work (being done by Steven Salzberg and his team). We’re excited to be part of this collaboration led by David Neale at UC Davis. The trees are incredible! We just went out to Yosemite for the kickoff meeting and had a great time exploring.
More information about the project here (https://www.savetheredwoods.org/project/redwood-genome-project/) – the work is sponsored by the Save the Redwoods League.
Rachael presented the team’s work on nanopore RNA sequencing of C. elegans at Bioinformatics: From Algorithms to Applications (BIATA 2017), in St. Petersburg, Russia. Slides attached here (Workman_celegans_biata2017).
Winston presented the team’s work on nanopore methylation at NHGRI Advanced DNA Sequencing Technology Development Grantee meeting in Boston. Slides attached here (timp_raven_170524z).
Winston presented our work on the K. Pneumo case study at the Sequencing, Finishing, and Analysis in the Future Meeting in Los Alamos. Slides are available here: 170518_isolatewga_2
